At oprootor.com, I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how your data is handled when you visit my IT and tech blog — in full compliance with Swiss law (nDSG), the EU GDPR, and international standards.

1. Scope & Applicability This policy applies to all visitors worldwide:

  • Switzerland → nDSG (effective Sept 1, 2023)

  • EEA & UK → GDPR

  • Other regions → Local laws apply where required

I am the controller only for the website itself. Google is an independent controller for its cookies and advertising services.

3. Data Collection & Use No login or registration is required to read my content. I do not collect personal data directly. However, I use third-party services for essential security, analytics, and monetization:

  • Google Analytics & Google AdSense (via Google Site Kit): Used for traffic analysis and displaying personalized or non-personalized advertisements. Cookies may collect anonymized IP addresses, browser info, pages visited, and ad identifiers. (Privacy Policy: Google Privacy)

  • Wordfence Security: Used to protect the website from malicious traffic, brute force attacks, and hacks. I use the free version with audit logs explicitly disabled. Wordfence only briefly processes IP addresses for real-time firewall evaluation to block active threats. I do not store historical IP logs of regular visitors.

Legal basis:

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR / Art. 31 nDSG): For analytics and advertising cookies (managed via CookieYes).

  • Legitimate Interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR / Art. 31 nDSG): For essential site security (Wordfence) and basic technical functionality.

4. Cookie Consent (CookieYes + Google Consent Mode v2) I use CookieYes to manage consent and Google Consent Mode v2:

  • No non-essential cookies (Analytics/Ads) load without your explicit consent.

  • You can accept, reject, or customize via the banner.

  • Re-open anytime by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer.

  • Rejecting cookies? The blog remains 100% accessible and functional. Only ads and analytics will be limited or disabled.

5. Data Storage & Security I do not store personal data on my server. All cookie data is stored only by Google. The site uses TLS encryption, relies on Wordfence for active threat blocking, and is hosted securely.

6. International Data Transfers Data collected by Google may be transferred to the USA or other countries. These transfers are protected by:

  • EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)

  • EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF)

  • Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework

7. Your Rights You have full rights over your data:

  • Right to Access, Rectification, Erasure, Restriction, Portability, and Objection.

Since I do not store your data directly, you must exercise these rights directly with the service provider processing the data:

  • Google: myaccount.google.com → Privacy

8. California Users (CCPA/CPRA) If you’re in California:

  • I do not sell or share your data directly.

  • No sensitive data is processed.

  • Rights: Know, Delete, Opt-Out → Contact Google directly via your Google Account settings.

9. Consent & Withdrawal By using the site and interacting with the cookie banner, you agree to third-party cookies under Google's policies. Withdraw anytime:

  • Click “Cookie Settings” (footer) powered by CookieYes.

  • Clear cookies in your browser.

Withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing.
